Ifira Black Birds draws with Amicale

BATRAM SURI led side Ifira Black Birds held former Vanuatu champions Amicale FC in a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Port Vila Stadium.

Solomon Islands international Dunstan Quanafia scored Ifira’s lone goal in the first half.

Black Birds head coach Batram Suri lauded his players’ commitments throughout the entire match.

“The boys performed very well despite the on and off match days. We have created lost of clear cut chances but were just off target,” he said.

The Black Birds are currently level on points with Amicale on top of the Port Vila Football Association (PVFA) League.

“We are leading the table so far equal points with Amicale. But Amicale already played a game more than us,” the former Solomon Islands marksman said.

The Batram Suri coached side currently have at their disposal four Solomon Islanders.

Suri said the Solomon Islanders saw great character despite sharing the spoils with Amicale.

“The boys’ progression has been great since arriving in Vanuatu. Otherwise there are few little things needs improvement to create better and positive results,” he added.

The former national rep stated a positive is the team is still undefeated in the PVFA League.

He claimed his side’s big match will be against Vanuatu Erakor Golden Stars who are currently playing in the OFC Champions League group phase.

“We haven’t lose any game and the lads are looking forward to the big game against Erakor after returning from the Oceania commitments,” Suri stated.

The enthusiastic Solomon Islander insists his team main focus is to be top of the table in the PVFA League round one.
