Semi-finals for the Ela Motors Basket Ball competition has started with the battles of the top four vying a spot in the finals this Sunday.

Securing a place in the finals already in the men’s category, Marist 1 outmatched Travel Blazers in a stunning first semi final show down of the Ela Motors Basketball league on Tuesday night.

A win that put them through to the finals, Marist started off with a tight lip from the blazers who were very determined in the first quarter.

An early lead by Marist ignites blazers who made a strong comeback leveling the score line locked on occasions.

In the second quarter tense battle puts nervousness on both sides but Marist managed with two baskets ahead into half break 24-20.

A crucial match, both came back with outstanding performance but blazers could not convert its opportunities leaving a loophole that Marist capitalizes.

Marist in careful control denied the quick attacks from the Blazers who slipped off their rhythm as the clock ticks down.

Fulltime score Marist 35 whilst Travel Blazers fall short at 24 for the third place playoffs.

The second semi-finals will be a fierce battle between Crusaders and West Side Bullets starting at 6pm today; the winner plays Marist 1 in the finals.

In the women’s category D-fenders outclassed the newcomers, West Rennell 61-15 to be in the finals.

D-fenders will now be waiting on results of the second semi-finals between Sunrise and Andel at the Multipurpose Hall starting at 4:00 pm.

Finals including third and fourth playoffs will be this Sunday starting at 1:00 pm for both categories.
