TWO Solomon Islands soccer referees yesterday left for Samoa to officiate in the OFC U17 championship preliminary stage.
The two are two SIFF and FIFA badge referees.
Gerald Oiaka from Auki our FIFA Referee and John Erick Niabo from Honiara the FIFA Assistant Referee were nominated and appointed by the OFC competitions department to join other colleague Referees from OFC member countries.
They underwent Physical Fitness test which they all passed to be able to participate.
This is the first trip for John Niabo to officiate outside the country, and is very excited about it.
It is a very rewarding thing to see some of our match officials continue to be called to officiate at the OFC level.
The 2013 OFC U17 preliminary stage is held for soccer weaker nations such as Samoa, Cook Islands and others.
The winner will then join the OFC U17 championship proper.
