The final 22 players who will form the Solomon Islands men’s football squad for the remaining two matches of the Oceania World Cup Qualifiers will be selected this week.
Team Coach, Jacob Moli yesterday revealed to local media that the 22 players will be announced following a meeting by the team technical staff and coaches scheduled for Tuesday.
He said the selection of players has concluded after yesterday’s friendly match against the National Development Sharks which they narrowly won 4-3.
“Today’s (yesterday) match really helped us coaches to observe which players have the potential of making it into the final squad.
“We have identified which players feature well in training and during real matches such as in today’s game,” Moli said.
He said the selected players will feature in the friendly match against Solomon Warriors scheduled for next Saturday.
The friendly match is aimed at raising funds to help the victims of the recent Earthquake and Tsunami in Temotu Province.
