Solomon Islands top striker Henry Fa’arodo is set to join reigning Papua New Guinea soccer champions Hekari United in a bid to bolster the clubs remaining campaign in the O-League finals.

Fa’arodo is among four other high profile Solomon Island player’s Hekari United have secured on a short-term deal, to help the club in their remaining three games.

Reports reaching Start Sports revealed that that the other players are mid-fielders Alick Mamae, Stanley Waita and national defender Gideon Omokirio.

All three are already in Port Moresby training with the Hekari United team with Fa’arodo set to joining them either this weekend or Monday next week.

Fa’arodo told Star Sports yesterday that he was informed about the proposal from the Hekari Club only this week.

“I only learned about their interest in signing me up three days ago”, Fa’arodo said.

“But we have managed to come with an arrangement that has suited my current commitments, and so I will be joining them either this weekend or next week”.

Fa’arodo said that the other Solomon Islands players may have something to do with Hekari’s keen interest but says he is more than happy to fly over and play for the PNG champions.

He is currently waiting for his International Transfer Clearance (ITC) from his current club Kolale FC.

“Right now am still with Koloale club but I should be able to secure my ITC from them before I travel over to PNG”, Fa’arodo said.

Meanwhile, Hekari’s next game is against the Vanuatu club champions Tafea FC who are currently sitting on top of Pool B after round one with 7 points.

With the inclusion of Fa’arodo and the other three players in their line-up, Hekari is sure to bag the three points and move from third place to equal the ladder leaders with two games in hand.

Attempts by Star Sports yesterday to reach Heakri team officials were unsuccessful as the members are still on compassionate leave over last weeks passing of Hekari Club founder, the late Sir Kapi Natto.

Fa’arodo says he hopes to play at least one game with Hekari United and see whether they will still want him to play for the rest of their O- League campaign.
