Uncles FC escape defeat with a close victory of 4-3 over Junior Flamingo in the first Honiara Football Association (HFA) DJ premier league at Lawson Tama yesterday.
But they have to struggle all through the entire 90-minutes before securing their win against the new comers.
Infact it was Junior Flamingo who started off the game to a positive start after opening the goal in the ninth minutes from kick off time.
The opening goal came from Guadalcanal Hornets striker Karol Kakate from a deflection from Uncles’ goal post.
Kakate move in and strike the first goal to the back of the net from the rebound.
From the lead Junior Flamingo was all over the field trying to extend their goal.
However a simple error committed by one of their players in the penalty box allowed Uncles capitalise on it.
Uncles with their expert free and penalty kicker, Judd Molea, he then easily placed the ball into the net to equalize the goal in the 29 minutes of the first spell.
They then extend their lead with a second goal from Casper Aegari from a header in the 43 minutes to take command of the first half 2-1.
Both teams returned fresh in the second spell with Flamingo in command of the game.
A well placed ball from the center found Kakate who made no mistake to equalize it just two minutes from the start.
That goal added more strength for the Flamingo side as they continued an attacking game with the support of their fans from the hill side cheering them.
But Uncles looking more determined hit back in the 58 minutes of the match to spoil the match fever from another goal from Jerry Donga.
Casper Aegari then scored his second and the fourth for Uncles in the 87 minutes.
Flamingo then slotted in Obed Havimana as substitute and which surprised the fans when added another goal to end the match in a close match of 4-3.
With time not on their side, all attempts by Flamingo to level the match by full time was unsuccessful.
Uncles shield their backline and maintain their defence which declared them winner on the first match of the league at the final whistle.
Uncles FC coach Toata Molea said his boys performed below per but that is obviouse in every first game.
“Flamingo were much fit side that we have too struggle to win the game.
“We need to be seriouse in our training and we need to go back onto the drawing table and find what is needed to be improved,” he said.
Flamingo President Charles Viva said although his team went down he is satisfied with the results.
“The boys played really well and socred very good goals,” he said.
