THE Honiara Football Association has identified four football powerhouse clubs to represent HFA in the upcoming National Club Championships next month.

They are glamour clubs Makuru FC, Koloale FC, Uncles FC and KOSSA FC.

HFA after their executive meeting last week explained that the clubs were chosen according to their standings in the 2008/09 DJ Premier League table.

“The executive could not use any other criteria as other options were not feasible considering the limited time available before the tournament and that the current league is yet to be completed”, a spokesman from the executive said.

HFA in a statement added that the four clubs were also considered as a result of their strong financial background that would enable them to sustain themselves if one of them qualify for the O’ League this year.

“HFA encouraged the 4 teams to pick potential players from other sister HFA clubs if they so desire to strengthen their squads and improve their chances of winning the 2010 National Club Championship”.

The four clubs are also urged to seek private sponsors or raise funds to assist them during their preparations and actual participation during club championships.

“HFA will provide moral support where it can”.
