THE country’s biggest football competition Our Telekom National Club Championship is set to boot off in a fortnights time.

The confirmed date for the tournament is from the 17th-29th this month.

Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Events and Competitions Manager, Daniel Fa’alimae said that the local organizing committee will be meeting this week to organize the logistics for the event.

“Our first meeting will be held this week. We will be looking at areas like club registration, security, travel arrangements and so forth,” Fa’alimae said.

He added that as the deadline of the registration of participation loomed provincial football associations are urged to confirm their clubs.

The deadline for registrations is May 14.

Star Sports understands that the Western Football Association is currently holding its competition to identify its representative clubs whilst the Malaita Football Association will kick off their qualifiers for the National Club Championship this week.

Honiara Football Association Vice President, Samson Faisi that the selection panel has made a final decision that Honiara will be represented by Koloale, KOSSA, Makuru and Uncles.

Meanwhile, Fa’alimae told Star Sports that provincial clubs that wish to send more than one team need to write a formal letter to SIFF for approval.

Western province is one of those who are attempting to send three teams for the championships this year.

As it has always been in the past, the Our Telekom National Club Championship will be used to identify the country’s next club representative for the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League, better known as the O-League.

Marist won the last edition of the competition in 2009 to qualify for the 2009/10 O-League.

The competition this year is set to be a blockbuster as teams prepare for the tournament.

Honiara based clubs have already shifted focus to the national club championship as the competition draws nearer.
