RENBEL set for Auki games

Rennell and Bellona has now confirm its participation at the upcoming 4th Solomon Games in Auki  Malaita Province later this month.    The Rennell and Bellona Provincial Sport Coordinator Amote Tokahitu has confirmed this.

The province will be represented in nine sports  namely rugby sevens, soccer (men's), basketball ( men and women), netball, Futsal (men), tennis ( men and women), table tennis ( men), volleyball ( men and women) and beach volleyball ( men and women).

The Renbel province is expected to send total of 114 athletes and officials to the games.     

The Sport coordinator will accompany the Rennell and Bellona contingent as general team manager.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for young athletes in all provinces to establish and develop mutual understanding between provinces with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play" Mr Tokahitu. 

He also thanked the Renbell province for the assurance to support the contingent to participate at the games.   Various team managers were appointed to look after the various sports.

“I have appointed  varies team managers and coaches to manage each sports therefore I call all managers and coaches  to attend our first meeting to be held at NOSI office NPF Plaza room 42 at 12 noon Monday  7th June (today).

“ This is a very important meeting to this discuss issues related to the games updates and other important matters such as training, tentative squads, fundraising, and team preparations,” he said.    

The following people have been requested for today’s meeting:   Walter  Tesuatai, Amote Tokahitu, Rex  Kiloko, Keith Namona, Aaron Nasiu, Victor  Tekobi, Nessary Tiare, Tesimo Tapuika, Clayton Tuimaka, Peter Sada, Joy Konifilia Ramusaea, Doreen Ningalo, Dictor  Maitaki, John Bakeua, Eric  Tema, Norman Maitaki, Kingsly Tokahitu, Russell   Timothy, Daley  Tesuatai.

Meanwhile the Renbell also thanked the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) and Malaita Solomon Games Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the recent trip organized for all provincial sport coordinators  to visit Auki , Malaita last month.   

Mr Tokahitu described it as an excellent initiative to invite all sport coordinators to visit game venues and to physically get final update on the preparations for the Solomon Games, just few weeks away to kick off on the 25th June. 

“I personally applaud the NOCSI and LOC for this arrangement.  

During the trip we have the opportunity to visit accommodations intend for provincial teams to house during the Solomon Games and games venues,” he said.

They also held few meetings with Solomon Games LOC and NOCSI officials discussing issues relating to affairs of the athletes and officials that will participate in the games.
 
Logistics has been a major concern to sport coordinators such as per-dium, meals, transport, accommodation, accreditation, security and venues.

The next host was also discussed and invites provinces to submit bid for 2012 Solomon Games.

“However, we thank Malaita province for every efforts puts towards   hosting the 4th Solomon games and we optimistic that Malaita will host a smooth and a more friendly games,” he said.  

Solomon Games are held every two years under the Solomon Games charter.

The Objectives of the Solomon Games are to "Create bonds of kindred, friendship and brotherhood amongst people of Solomon Islands through sporting exchange between provinces without any distinction as to race, religion or politics".
