TEAM Lauru have voiced their disappointment over the recent Solomon Games medal tally aired and published in the media recently which they claim was incorrect.

Lauru Sports Coordinator John Wesley Zinga voiced his disagreement over media reports stating that the total number of medals published in the media were incorrect.

“The medal tally published after the Games were outdated and never updated and that was an incorrect picture of the total number of medals Lauru received”, he said.

He said in fact Lauru collected 9 Gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze medals which add up to a total of 24 medals and not 14 medals as reported in the media.

“The Lauru contingent participated only on four sports, volleyball, boxing, lawn tennis and weightlifting and bagged a lot of medals”, Zinga said.

He said “Generally I don’t accept fake reports; accuracy of information was the best thing to focus on before putting it on media.”

Zinga blamed the National Olympic Committee for giving out the wrong information to the media.

“It reflects that NOCSI media personal updating the medal tally tables have failed to do their duty,” he said.
