Maemae flew out of the country on Saturday despite media reports that he was axed from the Hekari camp.
And to add more ingredients to the soup he has reportedly signed a two years contract with Hekari as a sign of solidarity and commitment to the club.
In the past few weeks Maemae and fellow Hekari team mate Stanley Waita have made headlines after they were reportedly axed from the Hekari club.
However, last week the Hekari management cleared the air on the duo’s axing stating that Maemae was still part of the team and Waita was the only player that has been axed from the Hekari club.
Maemae who has been spending time with his wife and child in Temotu province have been distancing himself from the media in recent weeks after it was reported that he was axed from Hekari until he left over the weekend.
Last week Hekari United’s assistant team manager Gao Lasi told star sport that Maemae was still part of the team and described the media reports as false.
“Who said Maemae was axed from the team? Maemae is still Hekari’s property and the management never had an issue with him. Stanley Waita was the only member of the Solomon imports that the club has released”, the assistant team manager said.
The team’s assistant manager Gao Lasi then confirmed to star sport yesterday that Maemae has arrived in Port Moresby over the weekend.
“Maemae em stap wantaim mipla nau (Maemae is with us now)”, Gao Lasi confirmed from Port Moresby.
Gao Lasi added that Maemae was happy to be back as he is prepared to help the team again and the team are head over heels because of his return.
Dubbed as ‘Mr Cool’ in Papua New Guinea, Maemae has been one of the best players Hekari have signed from the Solomon Islands.
“Maemae is here and he is happy to be back and he is settling down well with the team”, Gao Lasi said.
When star sport called to confirm Maemae’s arrival, Gao Lasi also confirmed that Maemae would be meeting the team management to sign a two years contract with the team.
Meanwhile, all local players playing for Hekari have returned except for the country’s national players Henry Fa’arodo Jnr and Gideon Omokirio who have returned because of work commitment.
