WITH less than six weeks to go before the start of the O’ League season Koloale FC Head Coach Peter Eke said his team is well prepared ahead of their opening match against Lautoka FC of Fiji next month.

The game which is the first for this years O’ League season is scheduled for the 23rd next week and it will be played on our very own home soil, Lawson Tama.

Speaking to star sports yesterday, Eke revealed that Koloale FC have undergone intensive training and are confident of pulling of a positive result in their first match.

He said after three friendly matches with the national squad Bonitos and Honiara select side, and through their daily trainings it is obvious that the boys are prepared to take on their first rival, Lautoka FC.

With the current blend of players drafted into the team Eke said that the current Koloale lineup has improved compared to 2008.

“The lineup this year is much different from the one in 2008,” he answered when asked about the comparison between the current Koloale lineup and the previous one.

“In 2008 it was Luke Eroi who led the team and Luke has his own strategies of coaching the team and I have mine too,” he said.

Eke said with the inclusion of sneaky striker Benjamin Totori and acrobatic defender Samson Takayama, Koloale have a much different and stronger team.

“The boys have blended in well with Totori’s fast style of play and also Takayama at the back”, he said.

When asked if Hekari and other teams like Amical are seen as threats to Koloale, a more relaxed Eke replied without hesitation stating that “No team is a threat to them despite them signing a lot of players abroad”.

He said that since the national club championships and then the friendly matches, the boys have improved each day.

“Like we have mentioned recently, Koloale will bank on its local talents and we fear no team”, the Head Coach said.

However, with the clock ticking away the question of who will lead the team is yet to be settled.

Eke said at this moment, they haven’t earmarked anyone to lead the team.

“We are currently in the process of observing and we will look for a senior player who has the right leadership quality and attitude to captain the team both in and off the pitch”, he said.

Meanwhile, star sport understands that former Koloale captain Richard Anisua will arrive back in the country from Vanuatu next week.

However, it is still unclear whether he will only be back for holidays or rejoin Koloale.

Eke said if Anisua is back for good then it is most likely that he would be selected as the teams skipper for the O’ League season.
