ABC: Former world heavyweight boxing champion and convicted rapist Mike Tyson has been granted a visa to enter Australia.
The Department of Immigration says the entertainment visa permits Tyson to work temporarily in Australia as part of the Day of the Champions tour next month.
The speaking tour of Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide is Tyson's first visit to Australia.
The boxer was sentenced to six years in prison in 1992 for raping 18-year-old Desiree Washington in an Indianapolis hotel room.
Last week the New Zealand government blocked Tyson from entering the country to take part in the tour.
Under New Zealand law, anyone sentenced to more than five years in jail is denied a visa, although this can be waived under certain circumstances.
