SUVA (FIJILIVE) Former national skipper Tagi Vonolagi’s term as the coach of the Rewa Football Association have been abruptly terminated.

Solomon Islands soccer sensation James Naka is on contract with Rewa this year.

Vonolagi confirmed receiving the termination letter which according to him came as a surprise.

“I received a letter yesterday which has been signed by the secretary of Rewa Football Association and it states that I have been terminated as the coach of the district.”

“I am amazed with the wordings in the letter especially the use of the word “terminated” because I do not have a contract with them so what sort of termination are they talking about” said Vonolagi.

“They have not explained the reasons for the termination and I want clear explanation from the executives of Rewa Football Association.”

“I tried calling and talking to them yesterday but nothing positive has come out so far.”

“Soccer in Fiji is moving up to semi professional level and people should be more professional in their approach and come out clean.”

“I am not hungry to coach the team but was helping Rewa because I wanted them to develop into a better team and register impressive performances.”

When asked about his next move, Vonolagi said he would work on developing more youth players and would take time out to conduct development clinics.

Team manager David Edwards has also been terminated from his position.

Attempts to get comments from Rewa officials on the issue proved futile.
