White River School

E-mail Print

DEAR EDITOR – In the Star No. 4151 of Thursday 28th January there appeared a lengthy article by Tom J. Tipa who claimed to be a parent and a fee payer of White River Community High School.

The article was architected in a way to tarnish the name of Charlie Tango (Principal) and his brother George Tango (Deputy Principal Primary), under claimed of being a concerned parent and a fee payer that I will leave them to explain.

However, several points that I noted from his article, which caused me to think that Mr Tipa is not so much concern about the School but who runs the school for reasons only known to him, God and the Devil.

First, Mr Tipa did not honestly put down his real name because there is no parent or school fee payer by that name.

Second, Mr Tipa highlighted the brother’s intention to contest the Renbel National and Provincial elections, which has no connection to White River CHS.

Third, Mr Tipa pointed out issues that were long overdue, which if he is truly concerned he should have raised them back in those years.

For instance, the generator was acquired by the school during the time of John Safanamae about six years ago.

There were parents meetings and school boards in those times but he did not bring the issue until this time.

Then, lastly but not the least the allegation against the school exam results, which I will briefly explained to make a point before I close.

Directly quoted from Mr Tipa’s article he claimed that White River Secondary School had performed poorly in last years form 3 and 5 National examinations.

He further claimed that “NONE of its (White River CHS) form five students were selected to any of the national secondary schools.”

To be fair on the hard working teachers of White River CHS, Tipa needs to be informed that Richmond Sau’eha, who might be the one he paid for his fees is amongst the highest in form five contestants.

He is selected to continue his studies at Honiara High school this year.

In fact, Sau’eha’s aggregate of 482 is the highest amongst our form six intake and I’m proud of him.

The other two students from White River CHS who were selected to our form six this year were Renga Hugh with an aggregate 406 and Horia Steward with an aggregate 365.

So to say that “NONE of White River CHS form five students were selected to any of the National Secondary School” is a false allegation unless Tipa have low regard for Honiara High School.

Unless Tipa prove that the above explanation is not true then the rest of your article is all fabricated for reasons only known to him but not so much as a concerned parent as  he claimed.
