Firstly, for purposes of clarity I wish to advice readers that Jack’s second name in Reef Islands dialect means ‘Centipede’ therefore for the purpose of my reply I prefer to use Mr. Centipede for our convenience.
Essentially, Mr Centipede’s topic was one that his discussion fails to draw reader’s attention to his subject matter and reflects that of a person who don’t know what he was talking or writing about.
He fails to introduce his subject and falsely accused people whom he assumed and branded as the beneficiaries to the controversial RDCF and other funding.
This is the sad truth about the whole issue because Mr. Centipede misinterpreted Mr. Magga’s intentions of contesting the National General Elections [NGE] and tries to talk about issues that are contrary to his topic.
In fact, his focus was wrong at the first place before struggling to put his thoughts into words and this is also true with another person by the name, ‘Dekdoro Nganga’ [the name means, ‘Bye iumi how ia olketa’ or something similar] who misguided his readers on this issue.
Basically, Mr. Centipede and his friend need to understand that Magga’s candidacy is not a matter they can indulge with because they don’t have the capacity and the knowledge to deal with, let alone the constitution and the electoral laws.
In fact, these gentlemen are talking about the wrong issues at the wrong time because now is the time to focus our attention on the NGE which the date is irrevocable therefore we still have time to discuss constituency issues align to national interest.
Issues of this type don’t require people who have little or no knowledge about the law and the Constitution to unnecessarily write letters because they would realise that they luck the statue to discuss legal issues when people rebut their claims.
Mr Centipede and his friend need to know this and refrain from putting up issues that they can’t handle when pressurised.
On the outset, I concur with comments made by Charles Tuo which he rightly pointed out who to focus our discussion and disagreements on.
Mr Magga is just another person in Temotu Pele Constituency [TPC] who still wishes to pursue his political interest regardless of his health conditions.
As it is said, Magga’s health condition is one that the relevant law is silent about therefore, it is pointless for Mr Centipede to mention all the nonsense and think that certain people in TPC are engineering the all issue because they were the ones benefitting from all the funding, this is childish.
My advice to Centipede and Dekdoro and what I consider as the important issue is, the fight to oppose Magga’s candidacy and his nomination is over and the fact he will contest the NGE is confirmed and who are you to question his candidacy?
That should make you realise now that you are toothless in your pursuit because the law only puts teeth to voters to bite on the polling day [August 4th]. In other words, whatever you say now doesn’t change the fact that Mr. Magga is contesting the NGE on the 4th August 2010.
Rather, what you can do is to contemplate who to vote for on the polling day which the law bestows the liberty on all registered voters alike [disable, sick unless can’t go to the polls and the healthy].
Stop this nonsense and focus on the NGE as it comes once every four years so there’s no need for panicking because everything has its timing under the sun, just find out what you can do to make TPC better.
Ironically, if my two friends are registered voters for TPC in this upcoming NGE then legally they can exercise their constitutional rights to vote for a physically healthy leader but if not then I would advice that both of you sit back and cross your figures and prepare to bite your nails after the elections over.
The other aspect of Mr. Centipede’s letter that I wish to discuss is the misinformation about the use of RCDF and who benefits from it.
I would say that he could be one of those individuals in TPC that failed to see and appreciate what the former MP has done for the rural people during his term as MP for TPC as far as the disbursement of the fund is concern.
I am amazed how Mr. Centipede chooses to select few individuals and branded them as the only people who benefitted from the controversial RCDF and other funds.
As I have mentioned above, he is ill – informed therefore made assumptions that can lead to criminal liability on his part.
Mr. Centipede needs to know that publications of this sort can result to criminal prosecution and if his not brave enough to make a public apology then steps to activate the process and to institute criminal proceeding can be done as a lesson for his ignorance.
However, on the outset the issue of who should be the next MP for TPC rests with the rural people [registered voters] and how much we all desire to have a good leader rests with individual contesting candidates.
Let me put it another way, we all desire to have a good leader and the voters will determine that on the 4th August 2010.
Whoever declared the winner of TPC after the election is over will be our MP until 2014 NGE. The question of how best he will lead and represent the people is determine by the manner in which he will conduct his life and dealings with the people based on procedures he may or may not understand.
And that is why it is important to choose people who understand the law and SOP’s [standard operating procedures] of the government [you can’t be a member of a house that you don’t know how it operates or functions].
Essentially, the reason why I am saying this is because I have in the recent past advocated on this paper the fact why we in the TPC drastically need good and godly leaders.
And it amazes me when I read the letter by Mr Centipede that our family [Bonuga family] was all the while supporting the former TPC MP because we were individualistic in our pursuit and supported him for the wrong reasons.
This is totally false and a perception held by people who are presumptuous in every aspect of their life.
I found it quite interesting for an ill - informed person like Mr Centipede to publicise something that is totally contrary to what I previously advocated and I urge him to read letters I wrote concerning TPC leadership.
I still can recall posing the question whether TPC can choose a MP in this NGE who is godly and corrupt free. My friend, all other qualities could be important but we can’t afford to continue on this road we have been following for the past 30years because our society is declining unless we allow heaven to invade the earth.
It’s time to allow the Creator to deal with HIS creation and see HIS Sovereignty over our affairs and the affairs of our Nation.
I can assure Mr. Centipede that we will never be satisfied with our MP’s and their style of leadership until or unless we allow the GOD of the nations to invade our lives and allow HIM to lead us in every aspect of our lives and dealings.
This is drastically important in the days we are living because our nation’s financial situation/position will never change until GOD is given HIS rightful place in the government and the nation.
THIS IS SERIOUS because we can’t trade globally with our currency for the simple reason that our financially statue is unrecognisable regionally and internationally. We are a Sovereign nation and there’s no question about that but our financial position I believe is directly affecting and a burden to our sovereign hood.
Frankly, in closing it is public knowledge that former MP for TPC Mr. Magga is sick and understandably not in his full health capacity to perform as Member of Parliament and that is undisputable.
The issue now is not Magga and who may be supporting him to contest despite his health conditions.
Our focus should be on GOD to give wisdom to the people to choose the right candidate to represent the people of TPC and do something for them.
Generally, I wish to end with these comments; I feel it is appropriate to make it clear for Mr. Centipede that our family is wrongly accused and the onus is on him to take necessary steps to resolve the issue.
People choose to support MP’s with various reasons and you can’t assume our family is in the same boat as those whom you branded as the beneficiaries to the RCDF etc.
We can’t base our support on reasons mentioned above because we all have different perceptions of leadership.
It is worth noting though, that if anything we desire to support the MP was on the basis of him bringing to the government what our father previously pursue during his tenure as TPC MP during the 1970/80’s and to represent the people accurately without fear, favour and malice.
Hence, Mr Centipede’s accusations were totally false and reflect his desire to support MP’s who will include him to receive handouts from the RCDF.
My friend, the time for that is over because the leadership in TPC is changing and soon TPC will set the standard for the rest to follow.
God bless SI and TPC from shore to shore.
Alec L Bonuga
Honiara.
