Member of Parliament (MP) for Temotu VATUD Constituency will help to renovate Church buildings at Anuta and Tikopia islands.
Fred TukiSoaricomua told the Solomon Star in Anuta fortnight ago during a two weeks constituency tour in the province.
Ms Soaricomua said,the constituency will assist the Church complex in these two islands by putting tiles on the floors of the Churches.
“At the moment I have sent people to buy sago palm leaves at Utupua and Vanikoro for the roofs of these Church buildings.”
She said, the floors will have tiles so that the congregation can sit on the floor comfortable during their church activities.
Funds for the church project have been sourced from the Rural Development Funds (RDF) and the Ministry of Home Affairs, she said.
Materials for the church building will be shifted to the two islands once transport becomes available.
She said, Church complex on these two islands are in a bad state and its important to offer help.
A visit by the Solomon Star to the only Church in Anuta revealed that it was fully damaged by the recent cyclone Pamand is need immediate renovation.
Members of the community have acknowledged the assurance made by the MP.
“This is a big help to the community since we are looking for help to assist us renovate this church building which was damaged by cyclone Pam,” Morgan Fenua told the Solomon Star in Anuta fortnight ago.
