The first official Solomon Islands national day celebrations to be staged in New Zealand will take place tomorrow in Wellington, New Zealand, marking the 36th Independence anniversary of Solomon Islands.
This event is historical in a number of ways: This will be the first public activity of the recently established Solomon Islands High Commission in New Zealand.
The event is hosted by the first Solomon Islands woman high commissioner, Her Excellency Mrs Joy Kere; who is also the first Solomon Islands resident High Commissioner to New Zealand.
The event is going to be held at The Wellington Club, on The Terrace; and attended by diplomats, government officials, industry and community leaders in Wellington.
Besides the official speeches from both the New Zealand Government and Solomon Islands Government, guests will enjoy the rare privilege in New Zealand of listening to the magical ‘Are’Are bamboo panpipes music being played by Solomon Islands students studying in New Zealand; and led by Solomon Islander Paul Awaikera.
