HUNDREDS of people within Guadalcanal and Russell islands turned up to witness the ordination of Nickson Donald Sade in the Russells, Saturday.
He becomes the church priest for Louna.
Catholic Archbishop Adrian Smith officiated in the ordination.
During the ordination mass, Fr Jimmy Nolan of the Catholic Diocese of Central Solomons reminded Fr Sade he’s now a shepherd of God’s flock.
“You are responsible to feed God’s people with God’s word daily,” Fr Nolan said.
“You must show Christ’s light to the people you are call to serve.
“Put your trust and faith in the lord in spite of challenges you may face and go along in your pastoral work,” he added.
In accepting his new role, Fr Sade said he knows God is calling him to do His work.
“So I must be faithful in doing it,” Fr Sade said.
“I have not ended my education successfully but through God’s help he will lead me to fulfill his plan and purpose for my life,” he added.
Fr Sade attended Tenaru seminary for seven years and become deacon for eight months in Louna church.
“Now I have been assigned to work in the ministry that God plans for me to fulfill,” he said.
Archbishop Smith urged all the people of Louna to support and work together with the newly ordained priest in his ministry of priesthood.
