ONE of the country’s biggest and most popular boy-bands, DMP are currently enjoying their moment of fame on a two-week tour of Australia.

Speaking to this paper via social media network Facebook, band members shared their amazement in seeing so many of the group’s fans in Australia.

The group currently has completed gigs in Cairns and Mackay and will this weekend travel to Townsville before wrapping up their tour with visits to Sydney and Brisbane.

“It is truly amazing to see a good number of fans turning out for our various gigs here. We never thought our music could be pretty big in these places,” said backup singer Michael Alufurai.

“The fans here are just so amazing and it is indeed an honour to perform live in front of them, giving them just a slight taste of Solomon Islands music here in the Land down under, Australia,” Mr Alufurai added.

Similar sentiments were shared by other band members in the likes of Evin Rush and Arak, the two brothers and lead vocalists in the group.

“The fans welcomed us in really well, not only that but also their turn out to our shows was just amazing.

“It is indeed an extra-ordinary feeling and memory seeing people dance and sing toward songs that you wrote yourself,” composer and singer, Arak said.

Band manager, Leonard Alufurai said that the tour was indeed a good experience for the boys, adding that it will help boost their performances, their stage presences and their interaction with their fans, some of whom they do not know loved their music.

“Such is a great opportunity for the boys, especially getting to know more and interact with their fans during the course of the entire tour.

“It will help develop them and also gain experience for many bigger tours planned in the future,” Mr Alufurai said.

DMP will complete the tour and return to the country on 16 April.
