Groundbreaking ceremony for new Wellness Centre

YESTERDAY marked a historical milestone for the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Honiara with the groundbreaking of a Wellness Centre.

The ceremony was held at Burns Creek, east Honiara near the Burns Creek SDA Church.

Visiting World leader and President of the SDA Church Pr Ted NC Wilson officiated at the groundbreaking along with Pr Barry Oliver, president of the South Pacific Division of the SDA Church, health minister Charles Sigoto and Solomon Islands Mission (SIM) president Pr George Fafale.

The President uttered it was privilege to be at the ground-breaking ceremony yesterday of the Wellness Centre.

“This facility will become a well known centre not only for good health but spiritual health, and a place of foundation of health,” he highlighted.

He congratulated the Church and wishes God’s blessing to health of the people of Solomon Islands.

Representing the government health minister, Mr Sigoto said he was honoured on behalf of Solomon Island Government to attend the landmark groundbreaking ceremony.

“The Wellness Centre is indeed a clear manifestation of the church’s contribution on advocacy for healthy living,” the minister said.

He acknowledged the leaders of the SDA Church for the dedication given towards emphasis on healthy living in this country.

The Wellness Centre is part of the Pacific Adventist University (PAU) campus located near Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.

This centre will enable those who would like to further their tertiary higher education in various fields including nursing and theological studies to just study at home.

The ceremony was attended by Niuleni SDA choir, SDA members, Church officials, government officials and the visiting SDA delegation.
