Women’s innovation expo underway

THE THIRD Honiara Council of Women (HCW) innovative expo for 2015 since its establishment early this year is currently underway at the National Art Gallery grounds.

Tuesday’s official opening has seen various women groups and individuals living in Honiara, showcasing their products, as well as providing reliable services that the populace of Honiara can explore.

Speaking at the opening, HCW president Martha Alacky said, that they are optimistic to lay a foundation and visionary outlook for women in the country.

“Because the culture of the city becomes the culture of the nation, we do believe within ourselves that templates we do in terms of program designed will be a model for other women sectors and constituents to emulate.

“We are already looking at possibility of smearing this success story to women in the provinces as some of our future engagement,” Mrs Alacky said.

She added that, one of the key visions of the innovation expo is to make women to be successful.

“HCW in the initial formulation of the visionary apparatus and infrastructure of the organization consider raising and elevating the innovative and creative ability of women in the city and throughout the country as one of the core drive stands we would like to advocate on.

“This is premised on the simple fact that our competitiveness whether be in a micro and macro scale as a nation lies in our ability to be innovative,” she added.

She also highlighted in her speech that, HCW is seeing women innovativeness and creativity as the bottom line threshold for the nation’s success.

Yesterday’s highlight was the tuna recipe promotion which some of the women took part in by showcasing the different styles of preparing the local SolTuna products. This has attracted a good number of people from the general public.

According to the president, the weeklong event also has a special program for families which will be taking place later in the evening until the closing day this Friday.
