A teenager has been sent to prison yesterday for a total of eighteen months after pleading guilty to three criminal charges.

The 17-year-old juvenile from Malaita had on a previous court hearing entered guilty pleas to a robbery, intimidation and taking vehicle without authority charges.

The court heard that on the morning of January 10, this year the victim came to town from East Guadalcanal and was on his way back when the accused and his co-accuseds blocked the road.

The victim was driving a G-registered number plate.

The juvenile, his co-accused 28-year-old Billy Lukasi and another man were armed with a bush knife in the middle of the road at Alligator Creek, Henderson.

It was heard that the victim stopped and was approached by one of the accused who allegedly attempted to stab him and ordered him out of the vehicle.

The juvenile then got into the vehicle and drove away.

Police located the abandoned vehicle at Tenaru area with properties in it missing.

The missing properties are a lap top and a mobile phone all worth up to more than $9,000.

That same night the juvenile was seen at Sun Valley area under the influence of liquor and stopping vehicles on the road.

The court was told he stopped a vehicle owned by Solbrew, got in and intimidated the driver.

He then ordered the driver to take him to various locations along the Ranadi area and Henderson.

However, while on their way to Alligator Creek at Henderson police caught up with them and arrested the juvenile.

Lukasi will appear in court for a pre-trial hearing on November 27.

Ben Alasia of Public Solicitor’s Office appeared yesterday for the juvenile while Crown Prosecutor John Palmer represented the State.
