Operators warned

02 July 2014

Central Island Governments is unhappy with some of the tourism operators who are using some of the local resources to organise tourists for their guests without acknowledging the landowners through some money.

Premier Stanley Manetiva in an interview with the Solomon Star on Sunday at Roderick Bay Hideaway said a number of operators have disrespected resource owners by using their areas for tours and never give the landowners any money.

He therefore urged the operators to stop.

“I urge you  to respect people’s resources and pay whatever fees landowners are charging,” Mr Manetiva said.

He said some of the resource owners have raised complains to his office about the actions of the tour operators.

He warned that if such practise continues some of the operators will be asked to stop operating in the province.
