Nation to benefit from EU funding

SOLOMON Islands is among 14 other pacific island countries to benefit from the latest 18.64 million Euros funding from the European Union.

The funding, which was made available under the EU EDF 10 Regional Envelope, will assist Pacific ACP(PACP) countries to implement climate change adaptation and sustainable energy projects on the ground.

The funding will be channelled through the EU-GIZ Adaptation to Climate Change and Sustainable Energy (ACSE) programme which is administered by GIZ.

The GIZ Pacific office in Suva reported that the programme was launched in Suva Fiji on the 29th and 30th of May.

At the launch, an inception workshop e was held to provide information on the overall process for implementation and training for submission of Concept Notes.

GIZ Pacific office said call for concept notes is now available on the Pacific Climate Change Portal website.

Invitation for concept notes of the programme goes out to PACP governments which include Cook Islands, FSM, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, PNG, RMI, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
