Taiwanese to face court again June 17

11 June 2014

A TAIWANESE national accused of attempting to export tubi logs out of the country will face the court again on June 17.

This is for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to serve his lawyer with the disclosures.

Hsieh Chen Chin Fu was charged with one count of attempted export of prohibited goods.

He was jointly charged with Teng Liu, who had already been sentenced early this year for trying to export million dollars’ worth of the prohibited Tubi logs.

However, Liu’s case was dealt with separately as Hsieh had returned to Taiwan.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for him.

He had just returned back to the country where police went and executed the warrant of arrest.

He was charged under the Customs & Excise Act.

This was in relation to the allegation in 2010 where he allegedly attempted to export seven containers of the tubi logs.

Those containers were declared as sawn timbers but Customs later found the containers contained tubi logs that were prohibited in the country.

Private Lawyer Desmond Nimepo is representing Fu while Crown Prosecutor Sirepu Ramosaea appeared yesterday on behalf of her colleague Ricky Iomea for the State.
