Suspect on the run arrested

Kirakira, Makira/Ulawa police over the weekend arrested a suspect who has been on the run.

The man was charged with malicious damage.

Provincial police commander Richard Hane said that his officers got the tip off and intercepted the suspect who was on the run for several months.

The suspect is in his 20s.

The value of damage is amount $590.00.

“The incident was associated to drunkardness which the suspect damage his neighbour’s properties.

“He is now arrested and charged,” said Hane.

Meanwhile an incident also occurred in Kira Kira where a father assaulted his wife.

The woman in her 20s has been hospitalised as a result of the assault.

The young man was arrested and is now in custody awaiting court.

Police thanked the public of Kirakira for assisting police in their investigation and arrest.

“This is how we should support each other to ensure that law and order is uphold and to make sure that our environment is crime free and safe for our children,” said Hane.
