An man believed to be in his 30s was hospitalised following an alleged stabbing incident in Munda, Western province over the weekend.

The incident happened around 2.30 am in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The cause of the incident was not known but when the Solomon Star contacted Munda police, Sergeant Timothy Alena said that the incident was alcohol related.

The stabbed victim was from another province, he said.

The man was allegedly stabbed on the back with a chisel.

“Police are now conducting full investigation to get full evidence of what is the cause of the incident.

“He was flown from Munda Hospital and now at the National referral Hospital (NRH),” said Alena.

The Munda hospital when contacted declined to give details about the condition of the victim.

The paper was unable to get medical officials from NRH to comment on the victim’s condition before this edition went to press last night.

Munda police had appealed to the public of Munda to come forward with any information related to the incident.
