Voters can check their names online

07 August 2014

The Solomon Islands Electrol Commission SIEC has yesterday officially launched its newly designed website at the SIEC head office in Vavaya Ridge.

The newly launched website was officially launched by the chief electoral commissioner Polycarp Haununu.

Speaking to local media during the launching, Mr Haununu said that the launch of the SIEC website was timely as it will allow people who have access to internet to check up for their names on the voters registration list online as the omission and objection period was extended. “SIEC office has closely monitored the social media, Facebook from the public, suggesting for SIEC to design a website so we did now.

“We took the suggestion on board and now launched a website that those registered voters having your ID cards can now just log in and check your names for this omission/objection period.”

To check for registered voters names, go to the website , enter your voter identification number ID as it appeared on your voter ID card and the app will show your name, village, ward, and constituency.

Mr Haununu said that the website will convenient for those who registered out of constituency voter registration centre.

He further stated that if you check online and find error in your details you have to again lodge a complaint to the voters registration centre where you have registered during this omission period.

In addition to the newly launched website, SIEC also has created a facebook page that will allow members of the public to find out more about the final stages of the registration process, post questions/comments, and have their questions answered.

From today, and onwards, voters now have an access to check against their voter’s names online, only their names using their ID cards not the whole list.

The website was designed mainly to those in urban centres who have access to internet services.
