CLOSING submissions on the voir dire trial involving Brian Schofield Baro Alagere, will be made in court today.

Baro Alagere was accused of killing his girlfriend at the Tuvaruhu hill top in 2012.

The voir dire trial (trial within a trial) was opened on Thursday by the prosecution.

Alagere is challenging the second caution interview he did with police on October 16, 2012.

He did not want to use that particular interview to be part of the evidence as he said it was obtained unfairly and under threat.

But the police officer who conducted the interview and another officer present during the interview denied the claims made by Alagere.

The trial proper will start after Sir Albert handed down his judgment on the voir dire trial.

Alagere is facing trial for allegedly killing his girl friend Flora Akwai on September 24, 2012 on the Tuvaruhu hill top, and rolling her body downhill.

The deceased’s skeletal remains were found two weeks later by students who went on a picnic trip in the upper Mataniko area on October 9.

The court heard on Wednesday when the prosecution opened its case that Alagere stabbed her, knocked her head with a stone before rolling the body downhill.

The case is being judged by Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer.
