KING George Sixth School as of this week will no longer be used as quarantine centres as it prepares for its academic year.

For the past weeks, the school has been occupied by those who came in from the low-risk countries like Fiji and Vanuatu to be quarantined there.

Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development ( MEHRD) James Bosamata on Sunday said the Oversight committee has decided that it’s time to hand back KGVI to the school and the ministry in order for the school to prepare for its academic year that will begin next week.

“This will also allow continuing students and new students like forms one, four, six, and seven to commence their classes by next week just like other schools in the country as stated in the academic calendar for this year.”

According to the National Disaster Council report, it also stated that KGVI has been released back to MEHRD and will not operate as a quarantine station unless any given directive from the relevant authorities.
