THE country’s national U17 team suffered their second defeat in the men’s FIFA U17 World Cup tournament in Brazil yesterday.

The U17 team went down 7-0 to Paraguay of South America.

The young lads did a pretty good job in the first half to hold off Paraguay with only two goals.

The South Americans extended the lead with another five goals in the second half in a space of 25 minutes.

This was obviously from defensive errors.

The midfield and defense left too much space to their opponents and were not protecting the defensive line leaving lots of through balls behind the fullbacks.

This is the second straight defeat for the World Cup debutants but the young lads remain positive to finish off their campaign with a positive mind.

Head coach Stanley Waita says they have improved in their ball possession however expressed his disappointed over such a high goal margin and admitted that they were defensively weak.

“It’s a very disappointing result for us which doesn't reflect the game.

“We did improve a lot from the first game in terms of ball possession but defensively we were weak, we made mistakes and lack of total concentration which let us down.

“We must be very careful of making mistakes when playing against top teams like that,” he said.

Waita added they need to learn fast from the two matches and do their very best against Mexico in their final group match.

“We going to do our very best against Mexico, failure is not the end but it is the beginning of bright future,” he added.
