FORMER Solomon Islands football team captain Henry Fa’arodo Jnr aims to coach the national team one day.

The most capped and legendary player who announced his retirement from national duty confirmed in 2017 confirmed this to the local media last Friday.

“Being a very motivated person, I am planning towards 2023 and I hope I that I will be qualified enough to probably coach Solomon Islands one day,” he expressed.

Fa’arodo will be heading back to New Zealand this week to continue his coaching studies and at the same time will be playing for Hamilton Wanderers FC in their winter season.

“For me, it’s an opportunity for me to go and plan and at the same time, it’s an opportunity for me to go coaching as well.

“I think my main priority will be going back there and do my coaching license while I get the chance with Zealand Football.

“That is my ultimate goal so that by the end of this year I should go on to the next level of coaching license,” he said.

Meanwhile, this golden opportunity to continue pursuing his coaching license has prompted Fa’arodo to prematurely step down as Solomon Warriors head coach heading into the OFC 2020 Championship League in a few days' time.

Star Sports understands Selson Molea will take the helm again as head coach for the men in red.

Molea will be in charge of the team that will leave for New Caledonia this week to compete in the Champion League Group C matches set to be played between 1-7 March 2020, New Caledonia.
