FORMER national U17 football player Chris Satu has died at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) on Sunday following a short illness.

The right flanker was part of the team that created history for the Solomon Islands by qualifying for the FIFA U17 World Cup.

Former teammates paid their respects to the young player who made five appearances for the country in the OFC U17 World Cup Qualifiers.

“Everyone is deeply saddened to learn of Chris Satu’s death and would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this very sad time.

“He was such a friendly, pleasant, and dedicated young man who loved playing football.

“Our thoughts are with his family during this incredibly difficult time,” said Charles Mani the former U17 captain.
