06 October 2015

Defending champion of the Melanesian Super Cup, Solomon Warriors is looking for a win in their first match against Erekor Golden Stars, 3pm at PVM stadium in Vanuatu tomorrow.

Head coach Moses Toatar told Star Sports that they are preparing for their first game and will be looking for a win to put them in pool position while waiting for Western United on Thursday.

He said, the boys are aware of the fact that this year will be tough for them and the only thing they have is to do their best.

“We have been preparing well ahead for our first game and we will be looking for a win to put us in pool position,” he said.

Toata said one of the setbacks in their preparation was they will miss the service of Matson Feni who unfortunately will return home due to passing away of his father.

But despite that the boys are looking forward for their tomorrow’s game.

Currently Amicale is leading after beating Erekor 1-0 on Saturday.

Amicale FC who imports three Solomon Islanders James Naka, Nelson Sale and Jack Whitney are also vying for the top position.

The Melanesian Cup is an association football championship played between the Melanesian football cubs.

The first edition of Cup was held in 2014 between Tafea FC, Amicale FC and Solomon Warriors which was won by the Solomon Warriors.

This year Western United has joined the championship which will add more competitive games for the Melanesian clubs.
