The chairman of the organising committee, Manasa Takala, says Ryan’s presence would boost the performance of players in the island.
“This is a big boost for us especially having Ben Ryan for the two-day event,” Takala said.
Ryan alongside, the Minister for Youth and Sports, Commander Viliame Naupoto, will be the guests at the two-day tourney.
Eighteen teams have been registered and the organising committee is still waiting for six more teams.
The theme of the tourney is ‘grooming tomorrow’s leader today.”
The tournament is organised by youths of the Drola clan in Nacula Village.
“The initiative of having this 7s tournament is to buy water tanks, pumps and other things needed to get water to the school and secondly to help develop 7s on the island.”
The tournament is to select the Drola Eagles for the annual Fiji Bitter Marist 7s on March 7-8.
