Good on you Yow, thanks for supporting Kurukuru

30 March 2016

On Tuesday the Solomon Islands Ports Authority Chief Executive Officer Colin Yow finally materialized his pledge to help the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) in preparing the Solomon Islands National Futsal Team for their Colombia World Cup Campaign.

Mr Yow on behalf of SIPA sealed the deal with SIFF at SIPA office in the afternoon with SIFF president and executive members.

The Kurukuru since their campaign in Fiji in their championship qualifiers already got the support of SIPA through SIPA Rice.

SIPA then rewarded Kurukuru players on their return with $5000 each for players and officials.

Mr Yow had been repeatedly insisting that the SIPA reform is for the good of Solomon Islanders.

Yesterday’s sealing of the $2million deal is a clear example of how the CEO is proving his words.

It might be too early to judge, but such support coming from SIPA is an example of our very own entity taking up the lead in supporting our own cause.

Many times, sports associations would appeal to businesses houses for support when sending teams for campaigns overseas, but SIPA is now indirectly telling us that if we embrace change and take control, we will achieve things and can never be beggars in our own land.

The support will no doubt be very helpful and contributes significantly to the grooming of the team in preparation for the World Cup.

We trust SIFF will utulise the funds so that futsal-mad fans in the country can see an improvement in Kurukuru’s campaign this round at the world stage.

Thank you SIFF for making preparatory arrangement for a sport and team that never let Solomon Islanders down – futsal.

Thank you SIPA for glowing despite of the many negativity and criticisms.

Go Solo Go!
