SUGHU village in Wanderer Bay, Guadalcanal has been the centre of attention during the weekend for people of the Weathercoast area.
The Saint Paul’s Anglican Church took in hundreds of people who went to witness the ordaining of Deacon Simon Peter Koti to priesthood on Sunday.
The ceremony was attended by Church officials of the Church of Melanesia (COM), villagers of Tasimboko and the Weathercoast area of Guadalcanal as well as residents of the Central Province.
In his speech to the more than 1,000 people that attended the ceremony, Fr. Lionel Longarata said it was another milestone achievement for the church.
“Today marks another milestone achievement for St. Paul’s church of.
“I believe this will be noted in the historical activity records of this village.
“The newly ordained Priest – Fr. Simon Koti is the third to be ordained in this chapel,” Fr. Longarata said.
Speaking on behalf of the family of Fr. Simon, Fr. Longarata thanked the Bishop of the Diocese of Guadalcanal Rt. Rev. Nathan Tome for attending the ceremony.
“I on behalf of Fr. Simon’s family wish to thank the Lord Bishop of the Diocese for attending this ceremony.
“It is our prayer and heart felt joy that today onwards, he is a Clergy under your care.
Fr. Longarata also thanked the people that attended the ceremony especially for all that have contributed to making the day a successful one.
