POLICE say they arrested a man in his 20’s in relation to an incident, which resulted in the unlawful wounding of his girl-friend at Mataniko settlement over the weekend.
Police investigation revealed that the incident occurred from a love relationship between the suspect and victim, which led to the female receiving wounds to parts of her body.
“The incident started from an argument, which led the suspect to attack his girl-friend with a knife, slicing, and stabbing her on her forehead, both ankles on the legs, and her arm,” a police statement said.
It added the injuries were severe.
Members of the public quickly intervened and assisted the girl to the National Referral Hospital, which saved her from losing too much blood.
The matter was reported to the Honiara police by the suspect’s relatives, resulting in his arrest.
