After months of waiting, the Mataniko dental clinic finally opens its doors to the general public yesterday.
HCC Health Director, Harvest Miabule confirmed that the clinic is currently equipped with two chairs and dentists to cater for the demand of dental services while waiting for additional chairs.
“The clinic is now open and is operating with two chairs that we get from Rove dental clinic and the one at the central hospital.
“This is just to keep the dental clinic service open to the general public while we are waiting for the arrival of new equipment throughout the year,” Mr Miabule said.
Mr Miabule said, the late opening of the dental clinic is due to the delay in the procurement process of the equipments from overseas.
A visit made by the Solomon Star to the clinic yesterday witnessed the dentists providing services to some members of the public.
Principle Dental Officer in-charge, Dr Angella Tahani told this paper that the services they provided are limited in basic facilities and equipments but her officers will continue to provide the best services to the patients.
“We are providing the same service that other dental clinics in the country did.
“Our equipments are limited but we will continue to provide the best we can in helping our patients,” Dr Tahani said.
Meanwhile, the Solomon star understands that the new Mataniko Dental clinic is the first step in the bigger process to improve the nation’s most important hospital as it prepares to be relocated to a new site within the next five years.
