THE Parliamentary Opposition has denied claims they are planning a ‘motion of no-confidence’ against the Government.
In a statement on Monday, Leader of Opposition Jeremiah Manele said such move is too early and the Parliamentary Opposition has no intention or whatsoever to dismantle the Government.
Mr Manele was responding to a front-page article in the Solomon Star yesterday.
“The Opposition Group respects the process in which the Government is at a critical stage of formulating the current budget as well as the need to ensure that Government policies are implemented accordingly,” he said.
He said the Parliamentary Opposition is also unaware of any such moves between the Opposition and senior Government backbenchers to topple the Government.
“While we understand that the Government has their own internal disagreements; we are not planning to capitalize on that. Therefore, it is likely that such moves are from within the Government itself and not from the Opposition,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader urges the media to practice responsible journalism.
“While we acknowledged the role of the media, we also urge them to carry out their roles with responsibility and not to publish unconfirmed or unofficial reports.”
