Minister of Tourism and Culture and Member for Gela Constituency Batholomew Parapolo will open Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) first provincial board meeting this morning at Fatboys Resort, Gizo, Western Province .
Minister Parapolo, his Permanent Secretary John Wasi, Tourism Director Barney Sivoro and senior tourism officials arrived in Gizo yesterday ahead of the one day board meeting.
SIVB board chairman Wilson Ne’e said, this is the first SIVB board meeting for this year therefore the Minister is being invited to official open this meeting.
It’s the first for the Minister since taking up his appointment.
“Normally every first board meeting each year the minister have to open it and deliberate on gov’t priority areas abaout tourism and also listen to some very important issues discussed during the meeting.
“This has happened in the previous years where the responsible minister is being being invited to take part in such official board meeting,” Mr Ne’e said.
Mr Ne’e thanked Mr Parapolo taking time out to attend the first SIVB board meeting this year despite his busy schedule.
Tomorrow the officials are expected to visit Simbo Islands as part of visiting some of the unique places in the country.
