VARIOUS victims of the April 3 flash floods living in evacuation centres in Honiara have expressed concern over the management of several centres and relief distribution to victims.
Speaking to this paper, Dutton Mabo, a victim from Marble Street and now residing at the Coronation Centre said that ever since the floods, they have been told that the Centre is only for victims from Number 3 residential area.
He added that also the listing of victims obtained by the centre and the distribution of relief aid only goes to Number 3 residents.
“How come we the other victims from other areas seeking refuge here (Coronation) do not receive any form of assistance from the Centre?” he asked.
“We are totally confused as word from those looking after us says that the Centre is only for a certain area and that only those will receive aid.
“If centres are assigned for victims in areas, then why weren’t we informed of such arrangements?” Mr Mabo questioned.
Mr Mabo meanwhile, called on authorities to clarify such to victims not only at the Coronation centre but others throughout Honiara.
