A SPECIAL sub-committee for Women’s Innovation Expo (WIE) have met on Tuesday to finalize activities, program and checklist for the first ever women Expo.
WIE is set for 23 – 27 March 2015 at the Art Gallery Ground organized by Honiara Council of Women (HCW).
During the meeting, the organizing team thoroughly went through the checklist of the program for the event to make sure nothing is left unattended to.
The women seriously want to see that there is a trail of impact when the program is over.
Organizers are also inviting all organization; government line Ministrieswho take interest in women development to book for space during the week to promote women status and affairs to the wider community.
Already there are government ministries who are putting up their hands to be part of the week’s program.
During the week there are special activities that are lined up all to enhance and promotion the potential and capabilities of women to the general populace.
Because of the high Non Communicable Disease (NCD) in the globe, region and country, as reported by the WHO and Ministry of Health, WIE is out to promote local Solomon Islands grown foods.
Fried food, BBQ will be discouraged. Instead the organizers are encouraging women to revitalize the traditional Solomon Islands dishes from different parts of the country.
Health check and screening will be done on site as well. This will cover blood sugar test, blood pressure, weight, height and other supportive advice.
Series of talk from different stake holders will also be presented and catered for.
The HCW is throwing their support towards this year’s Women International day, with the theme and expectation of encouraging women to make something happen.
HCW envisioned to see that the Women Expo purposely supports this in a practicalsense, said the president Martha Alacky.
“The core backdrop of WIE is to create a hub of motivation, invention, creativity and innovation for all women and girls.
“HCW do believe that women competitiveness is connected to women being empowered to develop their God given skills and talents to create and to be innovative. WIE is an activity under the umbrella of Women Organizing Wonders (WOW Project).”
Women are very excited about the new initiative and what will transpire during the program.
