The Women’s Innovative Expo is on again today at the National Art Gallery with an official opening set for 11am, Tuesday morning.
The programme which is organized by the Honiara Council of Women is set to roll again for the third time this year.
The first Women’s Innovative Expo was held early this year on the month of March, the second was held on the month of May and this would be the third.
The theme of the week long expo is “Zero Plastic Sustainable Backyard,” highlighting the problem that plastic pose to our environment today.
According to the president of the Honiara Council of Women Martha Alacky, the programme is aiming at encouraging local women to be innovative and self reliant.
She said the programme also provides an avenue for women to discover their real potential where it also provide opportunity for women to showcase their skill and to market their products and make their talent known to others.
“The best way to encourage our local women to be innovative is to organize such programme and allow women to come out and showcase their row skill and market their product to generate income for themselves,” she said.
“If you want to see some local and original products made by our local women innovators, come down to Art Galley and be part of the programme.”
Space is still available for women who are interested in putting up stool; gate will open at 9am and close at 9pm in the night for the whole week.
