Solomon Islands Tertiary Education and Skills Authority (SITESA) has announced the opening of the 2026 round of Solomon Islands Government Scholarships for
eligible Solomon Islanders to undertake studies in 2026.
The Scholarship application window opened as of Monday 14th of July, 2025 and will run about eight weeks. This means it would close at 11:59 PM on 14th September 2025.
A statement from SITESA said, the Solomon Islands Tertiary Education and Skills Plan (SITESP) 2026 is the product of national the product of nationwide collaboration, technical consultation, and data-driven decision-making. It reflects our national ambition to ensure that scholarships are fairly distributed, aligned to workforce needs, and fiscally sustainable.
For the 2026 academic year, SITESP will support 1,445 new scholarships, of which 82% are allocated to Pre-Service applicants and 18% to In-Service professionals. These are based on national workforce needs and priority training areas outlined in the SITESP plan.
Significantly, 88% of SITESP 2026 scholarships will be delivered in-country, with 12% allocated to overseas study, including targeted placements in health, maritime, TVET and other specialised sectors.
This reflects the Government’s focus on strengthening local institutions while maintaining critical international partnerships.
