A 29- year old man has been arrested and remanded in custody in connection with the alleged arson of the Tenabuti clinic in North East Guadalcanal.
Floyd Lili was arrested and charged with one count of Arson following the burning of the New Tenabuti clinic on 26 December 2025.
His was taken before the Honiara Magistrate Court on New Year’s Day, where prosecution applied for his remand.
Principal Magistrate Elma Rizzu Veenah Hilly granted the application and Lili was remanded until January 15, when he will face the court again.
The alleged arson incident occurred in New Tenabuti village at around 9pm on 26 December 2025.
The prosecution alleged that the complainant, the nurse in charge of the clinic saw flames engulfing the building, which was later completely destroyed by the fire.
Witnesses reportedly identified Lili and others as being involved in setting the clinic alight.
The matter was reported to the Henderson police station, leading to Lili’s arrest.
The prosecution said other suspects remain at large.
During a Record of Interview (ROI), Lili denied any involvement in the alleged offence.
