The redevelopment of King Solomon Hotel in Honiara is expected to cost around $45million.
This was confirmed in a statement issued by the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) in a statement over the weekend.
The plan was agreed after the SINPF Board and O’Neill Remington Group signed an agreement to Redevelop King Solomon Hotel early this month.
King Hotel and Resorts Limited (KHRL), a joint venture between the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) Board and the O’Neill Remington Group (ORG) have thrown their collective funds and expertise to redevelop the King Solomon Hotel signalling strong confidence in the tourism and hospitality potential of the Solomon Islands, the statement said.
KHRL purchased the King Solomon Hotel property in late February 2025 from SINPF Board’s 55% shareholding of $50 million.
ORG will finance $45 million for the re- development of the hotel for its 45% shareholding, it was revealed.
The redevelopment will include an iconic masterpiece of three modern leaf houses on Hibiscus Avenue, soaring 18 metres high honouring traditional Solomon’s architecture and simultaneously embracing the most up to date hospitality concepts and building materials.

The impressive designs will include a new lobby including hotel reception; cafe; public amenities and administration offices.
The middle leaf Haus will include an open style commercial kitchen including cold and dry storage; in-house bakery; butchery and an 80-seat restaurant.
The third adjoining leaf Haus will be the home of Honiara’s first microbrewery and entertainment area complete with bar and front row seating to the brewing process.
The three airconditioned leaf hauses will be built to the highest standards with steel, extensive use of glass and composite leaf haus style roofing and be joined by an innovative glass walkway parallel to Hibiscus Avenue a nod to Honiara’s friendly and safe environment.
“I am delighted that we are kicking off stage one of a multi stage redevelopment of the hotel. The first stage will include construction and fit-out, is expected to cost an estimated 50 million dollars and take around 12 months to complete.
Local contractors and employment for around 80 local construction workers will be created during the stage one development,” said Chairman of SINPF, Sir Dr Jimmie Rodgers.
Building permit approvals has already been secured from the Honiara City Council
Construction is expected to commence in September following the Pacific Island Forum leaders meeting and all staff of the hotel will remain employed during the construction phase.
Hon. Peter O’Neill, Chairman of ORG, reiterated his commitment to investing in the Solomon Islands, “After seeing the strong performance of the King Solomon Hotel and absolute support from locals and visitors alike to the changes since our involvement in late February this year and the continued support of the Government, I am very confident this further investment in the redevelopment of the hotel will yield strong financial results; excellent standards in hospitality in the nation’s capital and provide new, long term employment Solomon Islanders.
“It will be an iconic building not just for Honiara but the entire Pacific and a hospitality experience for locals and visitors alike that will set a new standard of excellence and fun in Honiara,” concluded Hon. O’Neill.
