TWO men have been remanded in custody for the alleged armed robbery of more than $50,000 in front of the Westpac Bank, Honiara in June this year.
Michael Auga, 20, has been remanded in custody on Monday while a remand application was made for Eddie Egeta, 23, on Tuesday in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court.
They will return to court on September 29.
The two men were accused of robbing a man in front of the Westpac bank at about 2pm of June 23, this year.
Police alleged they were armed with knives and threatened the alleged victim when he was on his way into the bank to deposit the money.
The alleged victim was working at the Honiara Casino and went to deposit the takings for the day.
After they grabbed the bag, they allegedly ran into a waiting car that was parked near the bank.
Police further alleged the two accused pre-planned the armed robbery.
Police Prosecutor Iete Tebakota made the remand applications.
The two young accused are not yet legally represented.
