A security officer has been remanded in custody yesterday following the alleged armed robbery of the ANZ automatic teller machine at Kwaimani building on Saturday night.
Joe Silas of SAM WIKI security firm will appear again in the Honiara Magistrate Court again on August 11.
He was charged with one count of armed robbery.
This was in relation to the allegation on the night of July 25, at the Kwaimani building, where a group of men armed with a gun arrived at the building and stole the ANZ ATM machine.
Police alleged that the men arrived in a Caldina car with a fake number plate and two of them approached the accused.
It was alleged that after talking with Silas, the two went back to the vehicle and return with crowbar and another man from the car.
Another two men were alleged to have been standing at the front gate of the building while three of them removed the machine.
According to the prosecution’s case five of them carry the ATM machine to the car and lifted it into the car before taking off with the accused.
Prosecution alleged that there was more than $400,000 in the machine.
The men allegedly went up to Henderson, East of Honiara where they broke open the ATM machine and allegedly gave $30,000 to Silas.
They later dropped the accused off somewhere in town.
